Grouper Hold/Sick 7″ pre-order

Damn. I haven’t listened to Grouper in a long, long while. With this new release Hold/Sick out on Aussie label Room40, it’s high time that was rectified. I’m sure many of you can share the stress of having a girlfriend who does not appreciate having death metal fired at her face whenever she comes round to chill. Solution: Play her Grouper. Not only is it the perfect music for night times, it’ll also make her putty in your hands my friend. The two tracks continue in the vein carved out by 2008’s delightfully titled Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill; ethereal whispered vocals and dreamlike shoegaze atmospherics, all topped off with a drone undercurrent to boot. Grouper vinyl is incredibly hard to come by so it’s fortunate that this doesn’t ship until October 6th. Get your pre-order in now. If you can’t shoulder the price of shipping from Australia, a download is available for a measly $4AUD! A sample of ‘Hold’ is below.

Hates music and writing. Unfortunately, he's a journalist.

I like how up at the top, it says, "UNDERGROUND, INDEPENDENT AND EXTREME MUSIC"

and then the text says, "Not only is it the perfect music for night times, it'll also make her putty in your hands my friend".

    So extreme!

But, seriously, this is gorgeous stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Uh, what? You do have female readers, you know. Owning a vagina and liking death metal aren't mutually exclusive, it turns out…
